New Family Room & Proposed Changes

Thank you for your sweet birthday wishes and the congrats on our new home.  If
you have followed this blog for anytime you know it has been a long search for the
right house.  I’ll be back later to share this journey with you but now I want to show
you our soon to be family room.
Photo of family room from MLS.

The house is seven years old and needs a little updating.  The biggest change will be
replacing the family room windows with french doors.  This will open up the room and provide
access to the pool. There is a screen ( known in Florida as a cage) around the pool so these
new doors can be open for a breeze.
Back view of windows to be replaced.
The house passed inspection so we are planning on closing the end of April.  I can’t wait to
move in and start decorating.
I hope you follow along as we make this house our home.

  1. I love your new home. I will be so exciting to follow you on your journey decorating your beautiful new home. ( My husband saw the pool and said "I want that" LOL…) So do I. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Hi Sherry, Happy Belated Birthday! I am excited for you-in fact, the recliners, in the photo of the family room, look like what we want for our new family room. We won't be moving until May and it is very hard to wait. We are so very anxious! I can't wait to see your new home and all your decorating.
    Have a great weekend.
    Hugs,
    Noreen

  3. That makes perfect sense to put those doors there. Are you planning on closing the single door? Anyway, I'm so excited for you and can't wait to go along your decorating journey!

  4. I'm so happy for you, Sherry. The den looks like a very nice space and large. The french doors will look wonderful opening out to that wonderful pool. I love it that it's screened it! Congrats.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia;)

  5. I am so very happy for you, Sherry. That is going to be a great house when you are done with it. It looks like it has good bones. Where in FL did you end up buying (if you don't mind my asking). IF (when) we sell here I am hoping to move back to Florida, too. I am thinking St. Augustine OR-other coast- Venice/Sarasota area. xo Diana

  6. I like the proposed changes you'll be making. The French doors will look great! I hope you know just how many people are envious of the weather you're having right now. LOL!

  7. Congratulations! Love your idea of putting doors to the pool. It will be beautiful. I think you might be using that pool a lot. It will be a bit of work but it will be fun decorating your new home and making it all yours.

  8. What a joy this will be and I agree that French doors will be so lovely as well as improving the view and access to the pool. With that broad expanse of windows, will you have French doors and side windows?

63*F here today, so you'll hear no complaints from me. Perhaps the remainder of the snow will melt?

    Cheers and hugs!

  9. I am so happy for you, Sherry! Congratulations and belated birthday greetings to you! Your room looks so lovely, bright and cheerful….the French doors will look gorgeous opening out to the pool! Must be so exciting for you as you make it all yours:)Hugs, Poppy

  10. Sherry, so excited for you that you found a new home. Love the idea of the French doors out to the pool. Eager to see all your updates on this new abode.

  11. I can't wait to see what you do, it is exciting to be able to start a new project. I have been three years in my little cottage and it's still not finished. I have almost finished my study and hope to post the reveal in a few weeks time.
