House Hunting ~ My Favorite

If you missed my first post on house hunting in South Florida you can find it here.
Today I’ll show you another model home we visited during our recent trip to Vero
Beach and Port St Lucie.
This floor plan was my favorite!
Our previous beach house had tiles that looked like wood except they had
an off white distressed look.   I loved the look and they were so easy to clean.
Unfortunately, that style has been discontinued.I don’t like these tiles with the white grout.  What do you think?

After a day of house hunting we felt a seafood dinner sounded perfect.
We ate on the deck and watched the seagulls just a few feet away.
We liked this area but still haven’t decided exactly where our next house will be.
I would appreciate any advise from other Floridians on selecting a new area to
call home.
So many decisions!
Thanks for visiting and have a great week.

  1. I really love deep, dark stains on wood floors.

Those light grout lines between the dark tile call too much attention to themselves. I think the light grout makes the rugs look like an afterthought, too. Does this home have that tile/grout combination throughout? I wonder if the grout could simply be colored so there is less contrast with the dark tiles? That would help a lot!

Happy hunting and pass the seafood, please!

    Hugs!

  2. I love this gorgeous home Sherry! Great kitchen too, but don't particularly love those dark tiles, maybe there's a solution, who knows…otherwise, I love it! Happy house hunting and happy food hunting too, in the meantime, lol..

  3. That model sure is beautiful! My father lived in Hobe Sound for 20 years and he loved it, it's a really nice area. As for the grout, I think the whole grout thing is highly over-analyzed. I had to pick custom tile floor for three rooms in our house and then pick the grout color. I painstakingly chose coordinating grout only to find that it all turns a muted dark color eventually anyway, no matter what you do. In other words, I doubt that that really white grout will stay really white for very long!

  4. Wow, nice house. I do agree with you about the tile and grout, not good. The kitchen is really nice and the family too. The enclosed pool and view are gorgeous. Happy hunting. Blessings Paula Lusk

  5. I am so jealous that you are moving to Fl.!!!!!!!!! I would go in a heartbeat but not Joe. Hence our new house here:):) I love the west coast. As far as the flooring in this model, NOPE, don't like it at all. It really doesn't look like Fl. plus it just doesn't appeal to me. Neat house though!!! XO, Pinky

  6. It looks like a great floor plan! I love the open flow of it all Sherry. I am with you though I do not like how dark the tiles are with the lighter colored grout. It makes it too busy. Thanx for sharing at THT!

  7. It looks like a great lay-out, Sherry. I love that there is a window in the laundry room. Love the dining room, too. I agree, I think the tile would look better without white grout. With the white it looks like tile, whereas, if it wasn't white I think it would blend in with the floor more like real wood.

  8. If you're looking for a beautiful community with lots of friendly people, beautiful homes, and a quiet, small-town feel then Hobe Sound is the town for you. We moved here in 1998 from Osprey and just LOVE it! Hobe Sound is only miles away from all the big cities in Florida, but when you're here you feel like you're a world away from all of the hustle and bustle, which is so refreshing. Once you visit you'll love it as much as we do. Please let us know if you're coming and we'll show you around our beautiful Hobe Sound.

  9. Sherry,
I love the kitchen too. It is bright and open. I am not a fan of the dark floors especially in Florida. Something lighter would really open up the rooms to feel brighter. Great floor plan love this one too.

  10. Decisions, decisions. I choose the seafood dinner with lots of wine! And of course the view of the ocean. Seriously I'm so excited for you guys and I know you'll find the perfect home. I love seeing all these floor plans too.

  11. Not a fan of the dark tile with white grout either…white grout is hard to keep clean and the dark tile will show everything. Sand, dust bunnies *I shutter. My OCD would kick in and everyone would see me with the dustmop all the time. Whew wears me out thinking about it.

  12. You are right in my opinion, don't care for the lighter grout..how plan and kitchen are wonderful…not exactly a cottage! We prefer the West coast of Florida , in Naples, so not sure what is offered with East coast..but the upgrades seem pretty high! Wonder what the basic house looks like!
Good luck..anxious to see the choice!

  13. What a gorgeous home and such a beautiful kitchen. I hope that you find the home of your dreams. Much happiness and luck in your search.

  14. My sister lives in the Winter Springs/Cassleberry area….nice. My husband has many relatives in the Ocala area and that is much more rural and only about 2 hours from Orlando.

  15. I was born and raised in West Palm Beach and have lived here 63 yrs. That makes me a rare native. The further North one goes, i.e. Hobe Sound, Jupiter, Tequesta, Stuart, Vero, the less of a huge metropolitan city you'll find. The towns I mentioned are beautiful communities. It really comes down to your preference of a larger city life or smaller community life. If I had it to do over, I think I'd go for Jupiter or Tequesta.
    Welcome to the Sunshine State.

  16. I must be either a real odd ball or have no sense of style because I like those floors! ha. Definitely not for everyone, I know. I just think that any other color of grout would not make that particular flooring pop like the white grout does. I'm not saying I could have those floors because I probably couldn't but I think they're pretty. Good luck on the house hunting, may you find your dream home soon!

  17. My pick would be the Port St Lucie area. I see that you made it through Jensen beach and Hutchinson Island at the dolphin bar. What a great place.
There is all kinds of events going on all over the area all the time. I love it there and have spent many months there. If you are still in the area, check out crawdaddy's it's the beast crab cake I have ever ate.

  18. Wow! gorgeous home, but I agree with you on the tiles with the white grout?!!! You'll go crazy cleaning up those grout eventually, if you decide on getting this one, you really have to do something with those floors!

  19. I'm not a fan of white grout because of the problem of keeping the traffic areas as white as the edges. But outside of that I find no fault with the home! Love your gulls! I get such a kick out of Laughing Gulls!

  20. Very nicely done. I wouldn't have really liked the white grouted tiled floor before my stay here in Sweden. The building that we are renting in (much coveted and prestigeous) is a 19th century newly renovated one with similar floors. Interestingly, our traditional NC furniture and decor fits in very well.
    You never know…just my opinion.
Thanks for the lovely pictures, tour and making it a wonderful morning for me here!

  21. Welcome to Florida! We live in Sebastian, 20 min north of Vero Beach. We're a pretty but sleepy little town without much shopping. Vero is beautiful and has many more ammenities. You had mentioned Pt St Lucie which is also nice, however much too crowded for me. We lived in Broward County for many years and I'm sooo over crowds and traffic. I think Vero is "middle ground" big enough but not too big and crowded. Good luck in your quest!!!
