1st Find And Project Of 2014

Hi Blogger friends!
A couple of days ago I found this cute set of four chairs at a local antique mall.  It was love
at first sight with the buffalo check fabric and shape of the chairs.  It took all the restraint I
had to keep from doing the happy dance right there in the middle of the store.
What I didn’t love was the faux marble-like finish .
I have been carrying a swatch of that same check fabric in my purse for at least two years.
That was my sign that these chairs needed to go home with me.
There is a coordinating blue and white stripe fabric on the back and they are marked on the bottom “Made In Italy”.
I couldn’t wait to begin painting the frames.  Here is one of the chairs sanded and primed.
Already much better!
I’ll be busy painting this weekend and be back later to show you the finished chairs.
Have you started any new projects yet this year?
Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful weekend!
Hugs,
Sherry

  1. Love the chairs – what a great find.

No projects yet. Still have to take down all the Christmas decorations and hopefully I can get that done this weekend. My COPD has been acting up so can't do to much as I get out of breath quickly. Always something ….
Looking forward to seeing you lovely chairs finished.
    Have a great weekend.

  2. Oh wow what a great score on your new chairs, you sure showed great restraint not doing a happy dance, I know I would have…haha….can't wait to see how they turn out all painted up.

  3. Lovely. I think they were meant to be. I haven't started too much yet. I changed out my china in the kitchen nooks but that's about it. I can't wait to see the finished result.

  4. Hi Sherry,

They are beautiful, with gorgeous curves and my goodness, just the primer on them already has softened them. I love check anything. Can't wait to see them done!

  5. Those are gorgeous chairs! I usually like the "before" pictures most people post when re-doing something. But in this case I can see something certainly needed to be done with the finish. I am excited to see the finished product. I don't know what you paid for the chairs but I can guarantee you got a good deal.

  6. What a great find!!! And they are in such good shape too, Can't wait to see the finished product!!! In the garage are some wooden pieces found over the summer, am going to set up a painting area in the basement and get to work when the holiday stuff is cleared out!!! Happy new year!!!

  7. Dear Sherry, I can't believe the price of your chairs and from Italy to boot. So glad you brought them home where they will have the perfect setting.
Happy New Year to you and yours. Gina

  8. They are gorgeous, and you have been carrying the swatch around with you? You must have almost fainted when you saw them, very excited for you! I Can't wait to see them all done!
Got sick New Years so that has kept me back on any projects, feel better today though!

  9. Wow, don't you just love it when that happens…meant to be yours. Great find for sure! Glad I found you over at the Inspire Me Tuesday party. Must start following you.

  10. Great chairs. The frames will be perfect in white. I'm on an aqua kick for the time being. I have a barrel chair with cane sides that will be aqua when I am done with it. But that project has to wait for better weather for spray painting.

  11. Sherry you are speaking my language, CHECKS. LOVE the way your sweet chairs turned out!
Yes, a big project for us this year is getting new kitchen sink and counters, after 34 years it is about time,
    Kathysue,
    Happy New Year to YOU!

  13. Love your new chairs, Sherry! Great idea to use painter's tape to protect the upholstery while you are putting a better finish on them. Can't wait to see the finished product!
