First, I want to announce the winner of the $50.00 Novica gift code.
Congrats to Roxanne! I will be sending you an email shortly.
Many of you have asked what our plans are now that our Richmond home
has sold.
has sold.
To be honest…we really don’t know!
Right now our plans are on hold as we consider all options. If you are a regular reader of my blog then you know I am caregiver for my
precious 87 year old father. We don’t want to move Dad from his home of
forty years and away from his friends. For the time being Steve and I we will
continue to live at dad’s and take it one day at a time.

That doesn’t keep me from looking at Trulia and Realtor.com though.

New home but we would need to add a pool. Good price and adding pool would
still be within our budget.
Great location but again we would need to add a pool.
As you can see we like Mediterranean style, which luckily is plentiful in Florida.
The new home must be a one story or one story with only a bonus room upstairs.
I had planned to show you interior pictures but they were all really blurry.
Each home is approximately 3000 square feet and the asking price is very similar.
They are all located close to our son and family in Orlando. If I had to make a
decision today I don’t know which I would choose.
Do you have a favorite?
🙂

I think that it is wonderful that you have your fathers best interest on his care. So many people can 't be bothered with their parents or just jump them in a nursing home and NEVER go and see them.
All of the homes are very lovely and I'm sure you will pick the one that is best suited for you and your husband.
Good luck on your choice.
Have a great weekend.
Mary
I think the last one is my fave. Hope you find just what you want.
they're all beautiful, Sherry. You're doing such a wonderful thing by staying with your dad. And I think that you're handling it correctly. You'll find the perfect one when the time is right.
Oh, wow! I love them all! I love the covered pools like that in Florida. Can't go wrong with any of these!
Karen
I really like #1 and #3 Really like them! I do not blame you for staying with your precious father! I would do exactly the same, Sherry. I am so happy that your house sold. Isn't it fun to just browse through the homes? You don't have to be stressed about it cause you are in no hurry. I am sure whatever you decide on is going to be lovely.
I think I am the winner of the gift code. I am so excited and have spent the last hour or so browsing the Novica site. I think I am the only Roxanne that is a follower, but of course I could be wrong! Lol.
If it is me, Thank you, Thank you and Thank You!! I will share on my blog ( that is suffering from severe neglect) all about the contest and what I pick.
Thanks again!
I don't suppose you know the name of the owner's of the houses you are looking at? #1 looks EXACTLY like my friend's house that is for sale there. EXACTLY! The interior is just gorgeous- she has an office to the right and the master suite is behind it. To the immediate left off the foyer is the dining room with a living room straight ahead from the foyer. That would be funny if it was theirs- xo Diana
OH my, they all look amazing and I would definitely love that much space. Downsizing is just the pits. Hugs, Marty
Sherry, I love that #2 has the pool and a pond or small lake, too. I would love outdoor areas #2 appears to have.
Thanks for hosting, and best wishes in making your decision on which one to choose,
Helen
I understand your dilemna. You can use this time to find just the right house too. Some things are better when they're not rushed anyway.
What's not to love about all of these?
What a neat dilemma.
I can't pick one, honestly – though that first one's pool enclosure is pretty nifty.
They are all so pretty, hard to choose! I would love to have a pool 🙂
Blessings,
Cindy
After 26 years we just sold our beautiful Mediterranean home too. Built and designed by my architect husband. We are renting it back from the new owners till we find our down-sized home. It's hard to look at older smaller homes…but our time has come. Good luck to you in your house hunt!
Sherry,
It is so wonderful you are taking your time and giving the care to your dad and not uprooting him. That shows how truly loved he is by you. All of the homes are beautiful. I know you will find the perfect home when the time is right.
Kris
That's a great looking home! I think renters out there will love that one if they're looking for luxury rentals.
Have you searched at http://myfloridahomemls.com/
We were steady visitors to this site, and looked for a home for over a year until we finally found the perfect house.

I admire the way you are taking care of your dad- it's a decision you'll never regret. What a blessing to have sold your house and be able to take your time about making a new home decision. It'll all come together at just the right time. 🙂
Good luck in your search and with your dad. I think I like the second one. Taking your time is a good idea with everything else.
Cynthia
Hi Sherry, I ADORE house #2. My husband and I would love to relocate to Florida now that he's retired; however both our daughters and their families live within 10 minutes from us and we couldn't move away as we are a very close family…..so nice to just be able to have them stop in often, we would really miss that. So we are content to visit Florida every chance we get. You are fortunate that your son and your dad live close to each other. It's wonderful that you are taking care of your Dad, there's not enough of that today. My own mother is 87 and so far is doing great, lives alone, drives everywhere, we are so thankful. She also lives very close to our home. Good luck with your house hunting … Not being in a hurry sure takes the stress out of it and turns it into something fun! Have a great weekend!
ohhh, I don't know, I'm a sucker for a water view so I liked #2 but the exterior isn't as fabulous as the others…tough decisions, they are all so beautiful…I'm sure it's not easy being in limbo right now~
Jenna
two thumb up for you and very nice post ! ^___^
Love the homes with covered pools but I'd have to see a house plan to make a good choice. Enjoy the search!
My criteria for a home is a coat closet near the front and back doors, a pantry of good size in or near the kitchen, plenty of closets, good natural light, and NO homeowner's association! Just sayin'! Oh, and room for bookcases if none are built-in.
I hope your Dad is enjoying good health and I can just imagine his delight at have you and Steve there with him. You both are so thoughtful to consider your father's wishes to stay in his home and near his friends.
Hugs!
Sherry, I really like all of them. A new house would be wonderful and then build the pool of your dreams.
I am a new follower and hope you come visit me.
Blessings,
Carol
They are all lovely, but I would want a home with a pool already in place. I pick #2!
Hi Sherry! Thanks for dropping by and leaving your sweet comment! I'm originally from FL and just love #3. Whatever you choose, its going to be gorgeous inside and out!
Abundant Peace,
Arlene
I like number 2 best, too. Be sure you choose for location…you can always change things about the house! I love to house hunt…and live just north of Orlando! Hugs!
They all look amazing. I love the architecture and of course a pool would be very important. Can't wait to see what you decide. Thanks tons for joining Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty
We are house hunting too! I love and hate it all at the same time! I hate looking on MLS and finding a house I think will be perfect and then walking in and its not so much…oh well! Thank you for sharing at Give Me The Goods!
Dimples & Pig Tales
interesting to read thank you I really liked your article I love your beautiful blog and so enjoy your posts.good job
The last one had me wanting to see the inside. Your dad is lucky to have such a caring daughter and to care so much you must be lucky to have him as a father.
Traci
They are all so pretty, I want to see inside 🙂
We lived on a lake in Florida (about a 30 acre lake) and there is nothing like the wonderful breeze that comes off the water…so I vote a house with a pool on the lake!!..
