Hi bloggy friends.
Our kitchen remodel has finally started. It seems like forever since I originally posted about this project. Delays happened when I broke my vertebrae but we are going forward before I have surgery. Surgery would put the project on hold for at least six months. Steve will be helping me paint the cabinets and then he may need to go it alone for a while.
Below is the Before kitchen. Today we cleaned the cabinets with TSP, removed knobs, took down all the cabinet doors and drawers. Everything has been sanded and ready for the primer tomorrow.
Here are our immediate plans...
Paint cabinets white with grey undertones.
Install trim above cabinets
Build range hood
Remove microwave from above stove
Build in new microwave
Install marble back splash
Change knobs and pulls
Replace appliances with stainless steel
New granite countertops
Change pantry doors.
Add bead board to walls
Our range hood will be similar to Miss Mustard Seeds. You can find the tutorial HERE. Isn't her kitchen beautiful?
I know many of you have painted your cabinets and I have been checking out lots of tutorials on Pinterest. Some of you used a water based poly to seal the cabinets. I am still trying to decide whether to do this or not. Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated!
I'll be posting our progress so check back often.
