Open House Party

Welcome to the Open House party.
Last weeks party was great and I enjoyed seeing all the beautiful
Thanksgiving tablescapes and vignettes.  I know many of you have
started decorating for Christmas and I can't wait to see what you have
to share.  You will find the link to join the party at the bottom of
 this post.
Here is just a small sample of the many wonderful post from
last week.
This picture made my heart skip a beat!  Penny @ Penny's Vintage Home made
this romantic tree from vintage wedding gowns...Gorgeous!
Check out the pretty tablescape at A Toile Tale.   I am green with envy over her
 beautiful antique plate rack.
Rhonda @ Blue Creek Home created these stunning angel wings. Can you imagine the hours
it took to make all those ruffles?  The end result is FABULOUS!
This amazing chalk board was created by Jeannine @ The Concrete Cottage.  Take
a look at the great tips she shares about this project...Love it.
Thanks to everyone that shared their post last week at the party. I won't be hosting
an "official"  holiday party this year but I hope you will link up all your holiday
decor and recipes for the next few weeks at the Open House party.

Faux Fireplace

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  We still have
leftover pumpkin and pecan pies! We took two pies to our son's house
and our daughter-in-law also bought three.
That's a pie per person!  I swore just one piece for me.
Who was I kidding?
I want to show you the faux fireplace my dad built over thirty years ago.   His
home is in Florida where you rarely need a fireplace,  most of the older homes
were not built with one.  When I lived in Florida we would occasionally
turn the air conditioner down really low and then turn on the gas
 logs just for the ambiance.
I am so excited to start decorating the mantle Christmas.

Sorry about the poor quality photos. For now I am using my little
point and shoot camera.
The concrete fireplace was built using miscellaneous architectural pieces
salvaged from many different places.  The insert is a antique coal holder
and the hand painted tiles are 19th century.
Steve and I decorated a small tree at Dad's house yesterday,  tomorrow
I will tackle the mantle.
The Open House party starts Wednesday evening and I hope to see you there.
Take care.

Open House Party

Welcome to the Open House party.
I know many of you are busy preparing for Thanksgiving today so I am
getting the party up early.  We will be spending the holiday with our son
and his family.  Though they are hosting I will be busy today preparing
a  few dishes to take.
Thanks to everyone that joined the party last week!   Take a look at just
a few of the wonderful post being featured.
Debbie @ Confessions Of A Plate Addict  made these adorable place cards.  There is
still time to add these to your Thanksgiving table.
This beautiful tablescape was shared by Jill @ Tabletop Stories.  She also
shares why it is sometimes better to use faux decorations. LOL

Take a look at this fabulous dining room transformation by Lisa @
Country Roads.  A trip to Aruba sparked the redecorating.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
On to the party....

New Flea Purchase & Update On Dad

Hi everyone.
I hope you had a wonderful weekend.
You may remember this  POST where I showed you my new alabaster grapes in
the photo below..
Well,  I found more of these grapes at the Fancy Flea a couple of weekends ago.  These are
about twice the size of the ones above and I can't wait to add them to this vignette.
.There is something about these that make my heart race.
I also want to thank all of you that have asked how my dad is doing after his stroke
and how I am holding up.  I truly appreciate your kind notes and concern about
his health.  Dad is doing a little better since getting on the correct medication and
changing doctors. I am still living with him in Florida and I really don't see that changing.
Steve visits as often as he can and he will be flying here tomorrow for a two week stay.
He is such a big help with dad and I don't know how I could do this without him.
Thanks Hon!
The situation is not ideal but it's the best we can do until our home in Virginia sells.
The time I spend with dad is precious and I wouldn't trade it for anything!
I truly appreciate your support and friendship.  Please forgive me if my posting is
sporadic and that I am unable to respond to every email and comment.  My
intentions are good but life is beyond crazy right now.
Hope to see you at the Open House party starting Wednesday afternoon.

More Fancy Flea

I hope everyone is doing well.

It has been a crazy week so I am just getting around to showing you the rest of
my visit to the Fancy Flea.   If you missed part one you can see it  HERE
I looked at this chair several times but decided I really didn't have
a place for it.
I loved all the velvet pumpkins.
I'll be back later to show you my purchases after I do a little tweaking.
I have to show you what has taken up residence in my dad's yard.  There are about
twenty of these birds that take daily walks through the neighborhood but this
one seems to like hanging out here.

There is still time to join this weeks Open House party.
Thanks for dropping by and have a great weekend.

Welcome to the Open House party!
Thanks so much for linking to last weeks party.  I look forward to seeing
what you have to share this week and I hope you enjoy the features I selected.
Tammy @ One More Time shared these adorable sweater trees and she shares with
us how to make them.  I am adding this project to my "to do" list.
Take a look at this fabulous kitchen transformation from Kristie @ Market Nine Home
I love the dramatic black cabinets and the beautiful chandeliers.
I am adding these to our Thanksgiving menu this year.  Don't the pumpkin cheesecakes look yummy?  Thanks to Lori @ A Big Story for sharing the recipe with us.
Junk Chic Cottage  is decorating early for a Christmas charity event at her home.  This
gorgeous all white tree is just part of Kris's beautiful holiday decor.

Open House Party

Welcome to the Open House party.
There were so many great links shared at last weeks party.  I truly
appreciate your participation in the Open House Party and I look
forward to seeing what you have to share this week.

Just take a look at the featured links...
Ron is the author of the fabulous blog  Uptown Acorn  and he posted about wanting
to be part of the Deen Team...yep, that Paula Deen.  It is a wonderful, well written
post and I hope you will visit and leave a comment to help Ron become one
of the Deen Team bloggers.
Chateau chic shared several of her stunning vignettes.  I love the architectural
salvage pieces. Visit Mary Alice to see more of her beautiful blog.

Nobody finds as many amazing things at thrift stores as Vanna @ Delusions Of Grandeur.
Each week she shares the treasures from her most recent shopping trips.  Vanna just found
six of these stunning tiaras at her favorite thrift store.
I don't think there is anything more delicious than homemade bread.  Tani @
Tagana Rose was kind enough to share this recipe with us.
Patricia @ Old Things New made these pretty drapes with drop cloths
and then added the wonderful stencil.   Love the chalkboard too!   Patricia
is still a relatively new blogger and I know she would love for you to
drop by for a visit.
On to the party...

Fun At The Fancy Flea

Hi everyone!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend.
Steve took dad to a political rally on Saturday so I took advantage of the
free time to attend The Fancy Flea vintage market.  They hold this market
twice a year in downtown Lakeland, Fl. and Country Living Magazine named
it one of the top 10 vintage markets in the United States.
I have to agree it was a fabulous flea market with over 300 dealers lining the
streets in the historic downtown district.  Below are just some of the pictures
I took at the market.
It was a great day and the weather was beautiful. The vendors seemed to be doing
really well, some were almost sold out three hours before the end of the show.
I'm having problems downloading pictures so I'll be back later to show you more
of the market and my purchases.
See you at the Open House Party starting Wednesday evening.
