Garage Sale Haul !

Last weekend a local charity opened up their 5000 square foot warehouse of donations for a public sale. They really had some great things and the prices were amazing.  I was able to purchase things for my shop as well as for myself.

Love the large mercury glass bowl, especially for $2.00.

Ballards has very similar Santos for $79.00 each. Mine were 50 cents each.

Eight foot long needlepoint aubusson runner. Great condition!

See the original price for one of these mirrors?  I got two of these.

I bought everything I showed you today for $32.00!!!  Now that is thrifty.

I also want to show you two of the great items I won recently in giveaways.

Aren't these hour glasses divine? I can't tell you how much I love these.

Thank you so much Laurie for your sweet and generous gift. Please stop by and visit the beautiful and talented Laurie at Laurie Anna's Vintage Home.

I also won two of the cutest flower barrettes and a key chain wristlet  from Paula at Paula Grace Designs. Paula is an Interior Designer and has the most amazing photos on her blog.  Below is a picture of my adorable granddaughter Sadie modeling one of the barrettes.

Paula, Sadie loves the barrettes and they match perfectly with her new dress. Thank you so much for this lovely gift.

I really appreciate you visiting and all your support.  Please visit the parties below for creative ideas.

Home Tour Part 1

Sunday I was lucky enough to tour the beautiful home of  Bill and Les Stinson.  Their home was recently featured in R.Home magazine and I fell in love with it instantly.  You can read the article Here.  Bill is the owner of W.L Stinson Custom Homes and Les is the owner of the design firm Hunt and Gather.  What a great team they made in custom building and designing this stunning home.

You find the home down a  mile long driveway and nestled in the woods with a backdrop of the James River.

The first room you see upon entering the home is the dining room. Don't you just love the benches?

French cabinet with chicken wire inserted in the doors.

Eat in kitchen. Love the mix of chairs and fabrics.

Have you ever seen a more gorgeous pantry?

Sitting room off kitchen

Beamed ceiling in sitting room with my favorite wine barrel chandelier.

Les and Bill have decorated their home with wonderful architectural antiques. When interviewed for R.Home Les said "Bill would love a La-Z- Boy in every room! " There is one in his upstairs office as well as a flat screen TV. Bill jokes "why can't we have furniture like everyone else?".

Thanks for visiting  and please check back tomorrow for part 2 of the tour of this fantastic home.

Garage Sale Finds!

Saturday I got up at 6.15 am to hit a community yard sale of approximately 40 homes.  I was looking for things for my antique shop as well as for myself.  My rule is for every two items that go to the shop I get to keep one!  Just kidding hubby.

The yard sale was in a neighborhood of beautiful homes.  I knew there would be treasures to be found and I was certainly not disappointed.  Below are the goodies I found that day...I know it looks like a bunch of junk but just wait and see what I do with these treasures.

I'll save the best for last!

See the cute birdhouse? I painted it white and it has found a home in our morning room.  I also have an idea for the white cubbie shelf. You'll have to come back again to see that transformation.

Okay, so here is what took my breath away!

Johnson Bros. Old Britain Castle
10 dinner plates
8 bread plates
8 saucers
All in perfect condition
$10.00 !

I could not pay her quick enough and get out of there. The whole way down the driveway I kept thinking the owner would call me back and say she had made a mistake.  Why would anyone sell these dishes for $10.00 when the one plate on goes for $19.00? I don't know her reasoning but I sure am glad I saw them first! These dishes are staying home with me.

No, I did not get this carrier at the garage sale. My son and Darling DIL gave me a gift certificate for Pottery Barn for Christmas and this is one of the items I chose. Isn't it fabulous?

Can you tell I love this little carrier?  The rose is from my container garden and I added a sprig of rosemary. I wish you could smell is wonderful.

The napkins were from the yard sale and they are so pretty in person.  I am not sure of the fabric but they are very sheer and almost transparent.  I got 10 vintage napkins with tags marked as made in Italy for

Thanks everyone for stopping by and taking a look at my yard sale finds and thanks ladies for hosting all the  great parties below. Check these out for fantastic inspiration.

An Italian Buffet

This dessert buffet gave me the opportunity to use some of my favorite Italian pottery pieces.

Hubby took the photos above the buffet on our honeymoon.

There were lemon trees growing all over the hill sides in Italy.  They were the largest lemons I have ever seen

Dessert is Rustic Lemon Bucellato.

I am linking up to the following parties.
