Stage One Of Kitchen Remodel Complete

Stage one of the kitchen remodel is done!  Dad and I added bead board and board and batten to the island and I am loving the results.  This was a pretty easy project and you won’t believe what a difference it made to the kitchen.

DON’T MISS: Repurposed Vintage Kitchen Tools Into Farmhouse Decor

Sorry about the blurry pictures.  My camera has to go for repairs…again.

This is the new marble tile purchased for the back splash.  I had been looking at this tile for a while but it was one of the most expensive Home Depot carries.  Luckily a trip to HD last week found the tile had been discontinued and was drastically reduced.  I was doing the happy dance in the aisles.

I’ll be back soon to show you how we did this project and a cost breakdown.  If you missed my plans for the kitchen remodel you can see it HERE.

Thanks for dropping by.

  1. Hooray for the tile sale! I can't wait to see what you've got planned Sherry. The bead board looks fantastic, it's amazing how it changes the whole vibe in the kitchen.

  2. Sherry I love all the reno on your kitchen so far. That tile is gorgeous and is going to look great as a back splash and the fact you got it reduced makes it even prettier lol!
    Good luck.

  3. Wow! I went back to see the "before" picture and you aren't kidding that adding the bead board and board and batten made a big difference. It adds so much personality. I was happy to see from your original kitchen post that you are going to paint the cabinets too. That will make a big difference also. Love the tile that you found on sale…I have been eyeing that too but I know we could not tackle a job like replacing a backsplash. You and your dad are a good team!

  4. I love what you've done so far. The bead board adds so much character and the tile is going to be gorgeous. You're so blessed that you and your dad can work on this project together. Thanks Sherry for sharing at Vintage Inspiration Party.

  5. that looks so nice Sherry! We are having custom shades put on the back of the house windows and I am balking at the price. Will be doing some comparison shopping next week. Love the backsplash you are going to use. Classic and beautiful.

  6. Sherry, your kitchen is looking really pretty….
Love the marble tile backsplash you have chosen for you kitchen just gorgeous and it's going to look stunning when you install it, my cousin just had his kitchen remodeled and he has the same marble backslash and its soooo beautiful….

  7. I love the new look! We have bead board on the back of our cabinets too. I like the tile that you've picked out too. I'm hoping to re-tile our backsplash in the kitchen some time this year too. But, one project at a time!

  8. I love that backsplash tile! It's very similar to what I'm planning to use for my kitchen backsplash whenever I can get to it! I have a standard gold and brown colored granite (I wish it was white like my old granite but unless I can find someone who wants to buy my perfectly good granite I can't justify replacing it) so I think the marble with gold touches in it will blend nicely.
Your beadboard looks fantastic too. It must be so nice to have your dad there to help. My dad was quite a helper too!
    Blessings to you dear Sherry,
    Patti

  9. Wow! The new marble tiles you placed on your kitchen floor are divine. They added sophistication and elegance to the entire kitchen. That remodeling is really fantastic! I bet everyone loves hanging out in the kitchen now. Hahaha! Thanks for sharing that! All the best!
