PORN….Really Dad??

Hi Everyone.
Regular readers of my blog already know that my husband and I live with my 87 year old dad.
Last week Steve and I returned home after running some errands. Here is the conversation
I had with dad.
Me:  What have you been doing?
Him:  Watching Porn
Me:  Daaad!
Him: What’s the matter?
I know you and Steve watch it too?
Me:  Daaad!
(Insert me and Steve laughing)
Him:  What’s funny?
Me:  I can’t believe you are watching
porn!
Him:  I like porn star.
Me:  Porn Star?
He just shakes his head and walks back to the bedroom to watch TV.
About then the commercial ended and guess what comes on?
Pawn Star !
(insert laughing)
Yep,  It’s always a challenge being a caregiver.
I hope this gives you a little giggle today.
xx,
Sherry

  1. I'm a part-time caregiver for my 89-year-old mother who has dementia. Unfortunately, she never says anything funny or sweet, just cruel and hurtful. She accuses me of stealing things, tells her other caregivers that my sister and I never visit her or do anything for her. In addition to visiting her and/or calling her every day of the week, we do all her housework, mow her lawn, rake the leaves, weed the garden, do the laundry, buy her groceries and medications, file her income tax returns and pay her bills. In addition to working full time and maintaining our own homes. We're both single, so we don't have anyone to "help out" at our own homes.

I'm glad to hear that other caregivers don't have to go what we go through. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I'm glad your dad is so sweet! Give him a big hug for me.

  2. My Father in Law said the exact same thing one evening over dinner …..with all 4 teenage kids at the table!!! If ever a room was going to explode with laughter that was it!! We still laugh over Grampy's love of Porn Stars!!

  3. Went through this with my MIL in front of some of the younger relatives, except she loudly announced, "I just LOVE Hard Core Porn!"

Of course, she meant Hard Core Pawn!

  4. Oh Lord Sherry, that's too funny.
But at the same time I know it can be very difficult being a caregiver. God Bless you for being there for your Dad.

    hugs

  5. That's so funny, and cute! But your title certainly got our attention! My mother just turned 89 and my sisters in FL say that you just gotta laugh, otherwise you'd cry.

I'm pretty sure my husband watches your father's show too!

  6. How does one keep a straight face? My MIL, who had dementia, once complained to me: " I really feel like an old woman of 75 today." She was 86! I couldn't bring myself to burst her bubble.
