Numbered Storage Box

I purchased this box at a local junk store for $1.50.  It had been painted a pretty blue color but I wanted to use the box in my black and white office. If you missed the post on my office transformation you can see it here. Out came the heirloom white spray paint.

After 2 coats of heirloom white I traced a font found online using carbon paper.  Using a small brush I painted in the numbers.  Easy and very quick project that gives me lots of extra storage.

And here it is in my home office!
Here is one more easy transformation with paint.
This mirror was found at a garage sale for $1.00
Here it is after the transformation!  I painted the frame with heirloom white spray paint and the mirror was sprayed with 3 coats chalkboard paint. As you can see I really put this new chalkboard to use.

  1. I love what you did with the mirror and the chalk board. My daughter-in-law is getting ready to open her beauty shop and I get to decorate it, going to try this idea for her shop. Thanks for sharing, Vicky

  2. I love this Sherry! Your office looks like it should be in a Ballard Design catalog! {I love their stuff!}. Love the storage box with the numbers and the mirror looks great as a chalkboard. Did you paint right over the mirror itself then?

  3. Super cool. I passed up one of these mirrors at Goodwill today…maybe I'll head back there tomorrow! Just got my prize- so awesome! I posted some pix on our blog. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

  4. I'd love to "work" in your office!
I wouldn't get much done, I would just sit and stare at all the pretties!
The chandy above the desk is just gorgeous and so is the new-to-you mirror!
Oh, and the boxes are very clever, too 🙂
    Blessings to you!

  5. Hi Sherry,
I think your office is absolutely stunning!
How in the world do you keep it so neat!
The box you found is perfect and the mirror made into a message board looks wonderful.

    Love it all.

Come out to the Shenandoah Valley to Applejack Lane and visit a spell. I'll add you to my list to follow. I will be back very soon.

And about the Paula Deen tour- a must! We learned so much about her and went to some wonderful places. Ask for Elizabeth, she is the best. And when you go, tell her I said HI!

  12. Sherry,
Your blog is beautiful. I love this post and what you've done with the metal filing cabinets. I've seen these at junk shops quite a bit but never knew how to "pretty" them up!
    Have a great day!

p/s I haven't forgotten about the wash basin bowl…I just haven't found anything on it. I did find a couple of similar pieces but my pics are black and white and very old, from an old book. I will keep looking around and if I find out what potter or pattern name I'll let you know. I know you love that piece regardless of what it's worth and/or who made it but it will be interesting to find out anything.

    Have a great night!
