I Have Missed You!

A lot has happened since I last posted.  Almost a month ago I moved in with
my dad in Florida.  He had several mini strokes and now needs full time care.
I feel so blessed to be able to have this special time with dad.
Last week Steve drove from Richmond to bring my car and other
things I could not bring when I flew here.  He is staying a couple of
weeks and then returning home to try and get our home sold.  I have
the best husband ever and I could not do this without his total support.
I now have internet access thanks to this new gadget.
I was looking for internet service without having to sign a two year contract and
this mobile hotspot does just that.  It’s portable so I take it to the doctors office
and can even use it in the car.
I missed all of you and hope to get back to blogging on a regular schedule soon.
Dad was an antique dealer for many years and there are lots of pretty things to
share with you.
Thank you for your continued prayers for my dad and I truly appreciate
the kind comments left on my previous post.
xoxo,
Sherry

  1. My mother needed full time care, so I retired early and had the honor of taking care of her for two years before she passed away. My husband was my rock and I am so glad to hear that you have a supportive husband also. Prayers for you and your family! Hugs, Penny

  2. Best wishes and prayers for you and your dad. You are certainly missed in blogland 🙂

  4. Sherry,

Thinking of you and praying for both you and your father.

It is really awesome you ahve this time together, even though it is difficult, I am glad you do.

Keep your spirits up, and take good care.

Glad you are able to continue blogging, it is like Linus' blanket sometimes, isn't it?

  5. I need that thingy that youjust got!

You will indeed be blessed to be able to take care of your dad as will he. I was part time care giver of my dad about 6 months before he died and it is a special time of bonding and sharing. You may just be surprised.

  6. Hi Sherry, praying for your dad and you. That you will have strength for this time. I blog entirely with a hot spot because we travel between two houses. It has it's issues st times but I manage just fine usually. Hugs, Olive

  7. Sherry, I will be praying for your dad and for you too. I know how it is to take care of a parent, we had my Mother here for 5 years and I was her primary care giver along with visiting nurses and aides when I had to work. My husband, too, was THE BEST during that time. If you ever need to "talk" or vent or whatever, just e-mail me. Take care. XO, Pinky

  8. What a lucky dad to have such a loving and giving daughter and what a lucky daughter to have a dad that she loves enough to put her own life on hold for him! The icing on the cake is your supportive husband. I'm glad we'll be hearing from you again. ~ Maureen

  9. you are missed sherry but this special time with your dad is more important than anything else right now. i treasure every day i get with my 92 year old mama…she took me out for my birthday lunch this week!

prayers for your dad and you.

  10. Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. My MIL had a stroke several years ago and she has not been independent since! It has been a very tough time for them. So, I know just how difficult it must be to step in and "take over". I hope you will make a smooth transition.

  11. Sherry, So sorry to hear about your Dad. Take great care of him (I know that you will!) and cherish the moments spent with family. Thinking about you and keeping you in my prayers. Hubby's Dad went thru the same thing a few years ago, I can't imagine how hard it is for you and your husband. XO Cindy

  12. Sherry I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. And I'm so glad that you get to spend this time with him. Your hubby sounds like a total jem. I hope your dad will recover from the strokes he's had. I'll be praying for you guys. ((HUGS)) Vanna

  13. It is so good to hear from you, Sherry! You are a very good daughter to stay with your Dad during this time. I have a very similar situation in my life now too ( spending extended times with my aging parents who have no internet access). This gadget may be the answer to my internet connectivity issues. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.

  14. Sherry, so good to hear from you. Your dad is fortunate to have a caring daughter that will put her life on hold to care for him.
Glad you got a hotspot connection. I recently added this service to my iPhone. You can connect the iPhone to your computer for a personal hotspot. Amazing!

  15. sherry- I am thinking about your dad and you. Having recently lost my dad I know how important it is to spend time with the people we love most. Good for you having such great men ( your dad and your husband ) in your life. Take care.

  16. I've missed your blog in my email and have been thinking about you–especially wondering how the house-selling venture was going. No St Joe yet, huh?
So sorry to hear about your dad, but how wonderful you are getting to be with him now! Your family will be in my prayers.

  20. It's good to hear from you and cheers for Steve's wonderful help and presence with you. I'm sure you needed the hugs he provides as you have dealt with all that's happened to your beloved Dad in recent weeks.

I wish you good times to cherish, good memories to revisit together, and a peaceful heart. It's wonderful you are able to be with your Dad now.

    Sending hugs!

  22. My husband and I took care of my Mother and feel so blessed that we were able to spend the time with her. It can be difficult and trying at times, but being a caregiver is the most important job you will ever have. Bless you and your family.
