Fall In Florida

It’s hard to get excited about Fall when the temps are still in the high eighties.  Boy,  I do miss the cooler weather in Virginia, the turning leaves and beautiful Fall scenery.  I have been moaning and whining about the heat here for a while, but come December I’ll be enjoying the warm weather and no snow.

This is the season in Florida when outdoor activities abound.  I’ve found dozens of festivals, fairs and antique markets starting in October.  This month is also the beginning of garage sale and flea market season.

My large tub of Fall decor sat in the kitchen for days until I finally pulled out a few things this morning.  I am keeping the decorations simple this year and still leaving some favorite coastal decor
out.

I brought out the orange pillows and my cute bird one.  The beach picture was swapped for a photograph taken in Paris and a orange transferware plate I won at Nancy’s Daily Dish.

To get into the mood for Fall I cranked up the air conditioning and made pumpkin bread.  This is
just a box mix where I substitute a cup of unsweetened applesauce instead of eggs and oil.  This cuts
calories and makes the bread very moist.

  1. I like the Fall décor you added to your table. Everything looks very country French! Yes, while you may be feeling the heat, you will love your mild winter. Isn't that why so many people come to FL for the winter? I believe they're called snowbirds.

  2. Hi Sherry,

Love the fall touches! I am working on some of mine slowly….I am loving the change in temperatures here in NC. Back in Beaufort, it is still humid….Don't really miss it…..I am looking forward to wearing some layers…..Have a great week…

  3. Sherry, I'm too distracted by that beautiful corner of blue and white plates to notice the fall stuff. 🙂 You haven't done a full tour of the kitchen yet. Right? I love what I see already.

  4. Just beautiful Sherry! I love all of your Fall touches. The orange pops along with the pretty blue and white dishes on your wall is stunning. One of my favorite color combinations and so classically autumn. Wishing you a wonderful week,
    Happy October 1st!

  5. Dont you just love all the "Fall/Autumn" blogger posts and we here don't have one? lol.But I AM planting a "fall" container, and getting some pumpkins, but it will all be tropical style for us. We can do it, its just "different" :D, yes?

  6. Sherry- Your home is looks so nice! It all looks really beautiful. As an ex-Florida gal I can tell you that eventually you do see seasonal changes-they are just more subtle than they are here. AND you can always VISIT up Nawth' in the Fall and enjoy WARM winters when we are all freezing.

    Happy Fall Y'All- xo Diana

  7. Hi Sherry,
Love your fall decor. You will love that weather in a few months when we are all in the polar vortex's again and you will be maybe putting on a light sweater. So not to worry you will be enjoying Florida very soon.

  8. you've got your home looking so lovely Sherry. You've got such impeccable taste. I want those pillows 🙂 And I can relate when it comes to the weather. Very weird without trees and leaves everywhere.

  9. Yes, here on the coast of Alabama, it's the same story, although this weekend we are supposed to see cooler temps. Love the light and airy blue and white with touches of autumn. Such a fresh approach to a season usually overloaded with pumpkins, leaves and gourds!

  10. I miss fall in nw florida + we are in the middle of another heat wave here in s. ca. + will have to wait until fall hits + aren't we blessed to be living in such warm places. xxpeggybraswelldesign.com

  11. Even simplified, your autumn decor is lovely!

I know what you mean about no autumn season as we spent 10 long, HOT years in TX after the glories of autumn in TN and KY. Our first October in TX I bought autumn tablecloths, candles, throw pillows, and one large framed print of a sugar maple tree at the height of its glory. By golly, autumn was inside my home! Now we're in VA and love it!

    Hugs!

  12. I'm in a different climate this year too but so far I'm loving it. A little longer to enjoy summery weather! Love you Fall decor dear Sherry. Your new home is gorgeous.
    Blessings,
    Patti
