Birthday In DC

Hi everyone.
A few weeks ago hubby asked me what I wanted for my birthday and
I told him a trip to DC would be fun.   We had talked about taking this trip
before,  but just never made it.  I did visit DC years ago for business but I
didn’t have time to do any sightseeing.  I was excited to go last weekend
and spend some time seeing all the things I missed the first time.

Steve and I visited Arlington Cemetery and walked the entire Mall where
we toured several museums and saw many of the monuments.

That evening I chose The Cheesecake Factory for my birthday
dinner.  Of course I had to have a piece of the chocolate praline
turtle cheesecake…it was my birthday after all!
We ended the long weekend with a trip to The Big Flea.  The name of
this event is misleading as it is more of an upscale antique show than a
flea market.  There were quite a few dealers and some beautiful,  but

expensive,  antiques.  I did manage to bring a few things home.

The favorite thing I bought was this vintage pickling jar.  These

normally sell from $80 to $125 dollars.  Obviously the dealer didn’t
know what she had and she sold the jar to me for $10.00…Wahoo!

I also bought some vintage costume jewelry that will be listed in my Etsy
shop and some old French postcards for a project I am working on.

There was one more stop to Ikea to pick up a few
things and then we headed home.  These pretty flowers from my son and
DIL were waiting on our doorstep.

It was a great birthday and nothing could have been better than
spending time with my sweet hubby.

  1. Hi Sherry, Loved seeing your pics and a Happy Belated Birthday to you. What a sweet thing for your hubby to do, take you on a get away. I love your new pickling jar too.I have a big birthday coming up in a couple of weeks, maybe I should suggest that-but hubby would tell me that our trip to the Islands in April is my present-not, because it is for him to see his old golf buddies.
    Have a great day.
