Blue Favorites

It is no secret that I have a  fascination with anything blue and white.  I collect transferware and Italian pottery.  My transferware collection started when I bought my first piece at age 17.  My love of Italian pottery began much later when hubby and I were married in Venice and spent our honeymoon traveling through out Italy.  The beautiful pottery is everywhere and I fell in love immediately with the blue and white pieces. Below are some of my favorite.

Sherry,

Your pieces of pottery are exquisite!!! What a wonderful collection and what fun and romantic memories attached! Those European potters are phenomenal!

I however, don't "DO Blue." My mother "did" blue, and I guess that is why.

Don't get me wrong, she was my BEST friend, best mom ever and I actually LOVE blue,,,I have just never used it in my home! (More Blue for YOU!) I love the Dutch Blues and white with hints of Copper(I'm a qtr. Dutch) and I absolutely LOVE the blues and yellows in French print and decors,,,,they are SO yummy!

I guess my dear friend Kelly was the one who stated one day after looking at a livingroom "Redo" that "I was lucky, because I knew I loved Green"..no matter what I tied it together with- the other colors throughout my home,,,I had Green, somewhere. Hmmm...had never really seriously thought of that before she mentioned it!

I think the main thing, is to just "love what you love and DO reflect that in your home." Interior Decorators can be great, but does the end product reflect YOU or them? If it truly reflects YOU then it's a job well done,,whether YOU did it or had a bit of help!

Maybe someday you and I can do a Blue and Green Room! LOL,,,,the best of both worlds!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Hugs,
Shell

Sherry,

Your French armoire/bookcase is stunning with your blue and whites and white pieces! I love the top display to. So pretty! It was neat to read that you've been collecting the transferware since you were 17. What was the first piece you acquired?
Have a great evening,

Nancy

Your hutch and all the amazing Italian beauty is just stunning!! I studied ancient pottery Spring term at the University and LOVED it. We especially touched on Italian works and even before it was known as Italy...So nice to see your love of it has grown with you. Can't wait to see more of your collection along the years. Thanks for sharing! Made me smile!

Lovely blue and white collection, Sherry.I wonder what it says on the teapot and the other container? I see oregano and salt and coffee but those two beat me! The display in your hutch is really beautiful!

A girl after my own heart! I love blue and white, too. I have one pattern of china that is Mottahedeh's Canton, and I love it to pieces. I also have a collection of old souvenir plates that are Stafforshire transferware in blue and white and enjoy using them for casual meals.

Love your Italian pieces, and I can definitely see how you fell in love with them. They are truly wonderful, and they are so unique.

Happy Blue Monday to you...

XO,

Sheila :-)

Hi Sherry,
Your pottery is really beautiful! And a honeymoon in Venice! How romantic :)

Thanks for stopping by today & weighing in on the painted floor issue. Geez it's a tough decision! Here is my question for you: Were your floors painted in an oil based high gloss? I've heard that makes all the difference in keeping it clean, as it allegedly has a harder, slick surface and dirt doesn't adhere to it like it would a more matte finish.

Thanks so much for your help!

Hi Sherry! I love your blue and white pottery. Especially since it is Italian! How wonderful to be married in Venice. We were there 3 years ago.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I couldn't find your email so I'll answer your question here if that's okay. Yes, we are in the Destin area. We actually live in Niceville. Where were you a dealer? I'd love to find some good shops for some good deals!
